{"id":12381,"date":"2026-02-05T07:55:53","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T12:55:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nbm.org\/?p=12381"},"modified":"2026-02-05T09:14:29","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T14:14:29","slug":"national-building-museum-extends-winter-skate-spectacular-experience-through-february-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nbm.org\/national-building-museum-extends-winter-skate-spectacular-experience-through-february-16\/","title":{"rendered":"National Building Museum Extends\u00a0Winter Skate Spectacular\u00a0Experience Through\u00a0February 16\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>NATIONAL BUILDING MUSEUM EXTENDS&nbsp;WINTER SKATE SPECTACULAR&nbsp;EXPERIENCE THROUGH&nbsp;FEBRUARY 16<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>&#8211;&nbsp;One of a kind<\/em><em>, indoor&nbsp;<\/em><em>synthetic ice-skating&nbsp;<\/em><em>experience&nbsp;remains&nbsp;open<\/em><em>&nbsp;through&nbsp;President\u2019s Day Holiday &#8211;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WASHINGTON, D.C.\u00a0\u2013 February 5, 2026 &#8211;\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0 The\u00a0National Building Museum announced today that it will extend its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nbm.org\/skate-spectacular\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Winter Skate Spectacular<\/a>\u00a0experience through\u00a0President\u2019s Day,\u00a0Monday\u00a0February 16, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Winter Skate Spectacular was&nbsp;<\/em>originally slated to conclude on&nbsp;February 9,&nbsp;but&nbsp;has been extended due to popular demand.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to offer visitors more time to enjoy a warm, indoor escape from the cold\u2014especially in a setting as majestic as our soaring Great Hall,\u201d said Aileen Fuchs,&nbsp;president and executive director of the National Building Museum.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Building Museum is open Thursdays- Mondays from 10 am \u2013 5 pm&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The schedule for Winter Skate Spectacular through February 16 is as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mondays\u00a0\u00a0&#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0reserved for skate sessions with D.C. Public Schools\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Friday<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Feb<\/strong><strong>ruary\u00a0<\/strong><strong>6<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong>open from 11 am\u00a0\u2013 5 pm\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sunday, February 8-<\/strong>\u00a0open from\u00a0noon-5 pm\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Saturday, February 7<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; open from noon \u2013 5 pm\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Friday<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Feb<\/strong><strong>ruary<\/strong><strong>\u00a013<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0open\u00a0from 11 am\u00a0\u2013 5 pm\u00a0and evening skating from 6-8 pm\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Saturday, February 14\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 A Valentine\u2019s Day-themed session for the whole family from noon-5 pm\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sunday, February 15<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>open from\u00a0noon-5 pm\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Monday, February 16\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>open from\u00a0noon-5 pm\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Museum\u00a0members<\/strong>\u00a0have\u00a0special designated\u00a0skate sessions from\u00a05-6\u00a0pm\u00a0on Thursdays and Fridays, 10:30-11:30 am on Saturdays\u00a0and Sundays\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The full skating schedule and tickets can be found&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nbm.ticketapp.org\/portal\/product\/66\/events\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE<\/a>.&nbsp;Tickets range from $12-$20 depending on the experience.&nbsp;Visitors are welcome to bring their own&nbsp;skates&nbsp;or they can rent skates&nbsp;at the Museum.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>***A signed waiver is&nbsp;required&nbsp;to&nbsp;participate&nbsp;and will be available on-site. Warm up with hot chocolate or coffee, or try seasonal items like mikan, sweet, seedless mandarins popular in Japan, and&nbsp;yakiimo, roasted sweet potatoes with a golden, creamy flesh. The menu also includes mochi, chewy rice cakes served warm or frozen, nikuman, fluffy steamed buns filled with savory pork and vegetables, curry&nbsp;udon, thick wheat noodles in a rich, savory curry broth; and&nbsp;ochazuke, a comforting rice dish topped with flavorful ingredients and hot tea or broth. In the evening, enjoy beer, wine, sake, or a specialty cocktail.
